Back To School Faves: Wellness Edition

Can you believe school is coming?!

We have had such a fun summer, and while Olivia doesn’t start until after Labor Day, we are in full on BTS prep mode over here. More than the cute new clothes and a fresh backpack (though I promise I’ll share some of those goodies you have requested soon, too!) I’ve been thinking about really preparing our family for the upcoming school year. The emotional, physical and mental support we are going to need this year.

If you were following last year, you know that Olivia’s first time to school was a reeeeallly hard season for us. We were just starting to use oils and I am so grateful for all of the support they offered us during that time. And while I hope this year’s transition to Kindergarten isn’t going to be as difficult, I know there are some tools we need to stock up on to support us during the school year.

There are a few areas of support I am focusing on right now. Butterflies/nerves, boosting immune systems, and really good, restful sleep.

FOR NERVES + EMOTIONS:

Feeling nervous (often times associated with anxiety) can be the foundation for lots of emotional and behavioral issues. Our children (and adults too!) can struggle with lots of anxious feelings because of the changes in routine, the anticipation of events, etc. Those anxious feelings can wreak havoc on their bodies, including their digestive system (nerves) and their emotions and capabilities to handle and process some of those basic things in life that typically aren't difficult. Essential oils provide support to our emotions and offer a calming effect as they are inhaled and/or applied! Get those diffusers going :) Let’s help our families embrace this year with CONFIDENCE!

Probably our number one favorite for back to school is valor. Valor is what we call Olivia’s “brave ballerina” oil. It helps with courage and supporting separation anxiety and nerves. We apply this every morning and every night. I do, too. It smells amazing and the support is beautiful.

Frankincense. This is great for emotional support and is so incredibly grounding and calming. It’s also great for tired, worried mama wrinkles :)

Stress Away. The name says it all. Some say it’s like daytime wine for mamas! LOL!! It’s also great for kiddos the morning before a big test.

FOR SLEEP:

Sweet, sweet sleep. This is a necessity for being healthy and for thriving in the school year. Sleep gives your body a chance to rest, a chance to heal itself, a chance to renew your mind. A good night’s sleep makes a world of a difference for both kids and adults.

Peace and Calming. Another favorite for us is this dreamy oil that we refer to as Olivia’s candy oil. It’s part of our bedtime routine. We diffuse it every night and she wears it in her sleepy roller too. It smells amazing.

Lavendar. This is another great support for great sleep. In addition to wearing or diffusing, consider making a sweet dreams or linen spray.

FOR IMMUNE SUPPORT:

One thing I think of when I think back to school is…germs! Keeping my family healthy is my top priority.

Thieves. This is such a powerhouse. We are never without a bottle at home. It does wonders for boosting immune systems and keeping us well. Make it a part of your morning routine and apply it to your kiddos every single morning before school. We love diffusing it at night too and also if we need an extra boost if something does come up. We also love to make thieves tea or put a drop in diluted warm apple juice, too. It’s also a key ingredient in our immune roller.

Thieves hand sanitizer. Olivia and Chris will both go to school with their own bottle of this in their bags. A safe and powerful way to help keep germs away.

Lemon. We love lemon in our water. It’s packed with antioxidants to support the immune system and it’s great for seasonal support, too.

A few other favorites:

Digize. This oil is another one we are never without. We have a tummy roller with this and peppermint and the support you can for tummy aches, bloating or anything digestive is just unbelievable. The relief is almost immediate. If your kiddos get car sick- this is great in the car or for them to have in their backpack on the school bus.

Vetiver-great for focus/homework time/grading for teachers.

Panaway- is wonderful applied topically. It has an icy/hot feel and is a great support for tired muscles or growing pains.

There is also an entire line of pre-diluted kids products including:

SleepyIze- for great, snuggly sleep

Owie - for happy skin, because kids get all kinds of scrapes and cuts.

GeneYus - to help with concentration and focus during school or homework time.

Tummygize- support for upset tummies and nervous bellies.

MightyPro - specially formulated kids probiotic & prebiotic that tastes like candy :) And we also love this vegetarian, organic multivitamin for Olivia.

One thing I always like to remind people of with oils is the importance of consistency. The magic happens when you use your oils all.the.time. If you kind of use them, they kind of work, knowhatimean? Oils are also not a quick fix. They are a tool of wellness that we use regularly to SUPPORT our bodies and keep us healthy! The more consistent you are with them, the better results you will have, and your wellness will be optimal!

I always encourage you to put your bottles where you can see them. Not in the kit box. Not in your cabinet. Out of sight means out of mind, and we can't have that when we're creating a new habit. In order to get results we're going to need some consistent usage which means pretty bottles on your nightstand, bathroom counter, kitchen counter, and in your purse. Wherever you will see them. This is such an easy and convenient way to help yourself use oils consistently.

Last but not least—HOME!

The last thing I want to mention is how we keep our home clean. As we head back to school this fall, I know we all sort to dread the germs that our kiddos bring home!  Thieves cleaner is our FAVORITE way we keep our homes fresh, clean and it also helps us keep our families HEALTHY!!

When consumers buy commercial cleaning products, we expect them to do one thing: clean! We use a wide array of scents, soaps, detergents, bleaching agents, softeners, scourers, polishes, and specialized cleaners for bathrooms, glass, drains, and ovens to keep our homes sparkling and sweet-smelling.

But while the chemicals in cleaners foam, bleach, and disinfect to make our dishes, bathtubs and countertops gleaming and germ-free, many also contribute to indoor air pollution, are poisonous if ingested, and can be harmful if inhaled or touched. In fact, some cleaners are among the most toxic products found in the home. Thieves cleaner is totally safe and works on everything. Floors, windows, tables, counters, sinks, tubs, you name it! Goodbye under the sink clutter!!

We also love the thieves hand soap and have it at every sink in our house. We also love the thieves spray when we aren’t home but want to feel like we are. Great for putting on shopping carts, public doorknobs, etc.

Phew! That was A LOT! If you’re still reading, thanks for sticking with me! I really hope this helps you and your family be well this year. If have any questions about any of these items, please message or email me. I’d love to help you! <3

And if you want to order any of these you can do that here.

Wishing you all a wonderful and well school year with your babes! xoxo
